Holiday Sugars

Tis the season many of us eat & drink too much…especially sugar, fat & salt!  No…I’m not going to spoil your fun!  But I am going to give you some information & some tips.   J

A few reasons to avoid sugar ~ causes inflammation which causes pain, feeds irregular cells, feeds fungus, feeds parasites, causes blood sugar to spike & drop, plus many other issues

When you eat too much (processed) sugar…you may want to consider these supplements:

Chromium GTF ~ helps transport glucose into the cells
   ~ http://www.naturessunshine.com/us/product/chromium-gtf-300-mcg-90-tabs/1801/

Carbo Grabbers ~ reduce net calorie intake from starches with Carbo Grabbers, a natural supplement that partially blocks the digestion of dietary carbohydrates.

SugarReg ~ supports already normal range blood sugar levels, activates cell glucose transporters and supports the liver
   ~ http://www.naturessunshine.com/us/product/sugarreg-60-caps/927/

Want to add sugar to your drinks or baking?  Consider using Xylitol!

A few reasons to avoid sweeteners ~ many sweeteners such as molasses and syrups contain sucrose that cause tooth decay.  Then you have the artificial sweeteners that have been linked to many dangerous illnesses.  Xylitol is an excellent alternative!

Xylitol in bulk ~ sweeten foods and beverages with Xylitol low calorie sweetener!  This natural sugar substitute has a glycemic index of 7, so it’s great for reducing carbs and calories.  Plus…it tastes great!

There are many other Xylitol products you may want to consider ~ mints, gum, toothpaste & mouthwash

A few reasons to avoid fat ~ heart issues, (over) weight issues, belly fat, high cholesterol issues, clogs the arteries, clogs the cells, diabetes, accelerates aging, mood issues like aggression & irritability and so much more!

Eating too much fat?  Consider these:

Fat Grabbers ~ helps decrease the body’s absorption of fat…literally grabs the fat before it can go into the blood stream!  Helps maintain cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range.

Hi-Lipase ~ lipases are enzymes that assist in the breakdown of dietary fats.  Hi-Lipase is designed for people who have difficulty digesting lipids (fats).  If you are eating a lot of foods with fats in them…this would be a great help for your digestion.

Lecithin ~ although lecithin is a fatty substance, it is also a fat emulsifier.  Emulsifiers in the body play an important role in fat digestion and circulatory health.  There are other health benefits to lecithin as well.

A few reasons to avoid salt (table salt) ~ high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, stomach cancer, osteoporosis, obesity, kidney stones, kidney disease, vascular dementia & water retention.  It can also exacerbate the symptoms of asthma and diabetes.

Himalayan Salt to the Rescue!

Himalayan Salt is 84+ trace minerals/elements in the form of salt...it is "alive and full of energy".  When you ingest Himalayan Salt...it is "food for the body".  Himalayan Salt is digestible & usable by the body...it’s like eating an apple or a vegetable...the body needs that nourishment!  Plus...with the high mineral content...it adds a really nice flavor to your food.

Reasons we need “good, healthy salt (Himalayan Salt) ~ to conduct nerve impulses, contract and relax muscles, to maintain the proper balance of water & minerals, brain function & so much more!

To learn more, consider reading "Water & Salt, The Essence of Life" by Barbara Hendel

When I demo Himalayan Salt at various locations around Green Bay…there is always someone that says to me…”salt is salt” or “sodium is sodium”.

Salt is mined in different places around the world…and is processed differently.  It’s in the processing that the problem lies.

Table salt and many sea salts are stripped of all their minerals/nutrients and then chemicals are added.  So essentially they become about 98% Sodium Chloride and 2% chemicals.  Therein is the problem.  No balance of minerals…and then there are the chemicals.  Both of these issues make table salt harmful for the body.

Whatever you are cooking, you may easily switch from table salt to Himalayan Salt.  You will be very happy with the added flavor to your foods!

Our Himalayan Edible Salts are carried by Cook’s Corner, Festival East and The Wire Whisk.  Otherwise, please feel free to contact me for our catalog and to obtain the salts you need.

“Thank You” for wanting to learn about natural health!

Have a Wonderful Day!    J

The use of pure Himalayan Natural Crystal Salts in various forms (lamps, candle holders, etc.) helps to produce a healthy indoor environment by adding negative ions to the air.  The result is clean and dust-free indoor air, which improves quality of sleep & better air to breathe in your home & place of work!  By adding the negative ions, this negates the positive ions in the air created by EMF’s (computer, phone, lights, etc.) pollution, chemicals (carpet, paint, etc.), smoke, pollen, mold, bacteria, etc.  Better negative ion levels promote overall well-being, increased energy, better respiratory health & immune system health plus it promotes a calmer, more peaceful & happier environment!

Workout Places in the Green Bay Area

Places to Workout Around the Green Bay Area

There are so many great places in and around the Green Bay area to look at for potential gym membership or place to get out of the house and work out. In the summer, you can always take advantage of the many trails, parks, and neighborhoods to walk through but in the winter it is not so easy. This week our blog is going to focus on many different places in Green Bay that have memberships for individuals, couples, and families. Price is very added to these places depending on discounts and promotions they may have going on so call them, set up a tour, and find out what price offerings they have!

Anytime Fitness-Anytime fitness is a 24-hour gym that also includes tanning, personal training, and an assortment of cardio and strength equipment. It is located in multiple locations throughout Green Bay. With your membership you can go to any club throughout the country so it's great if you travel. They also offer online tools to help you achieve your goals.

Crossfit Green Bay-CrossFit Green Bay has many different options for memberships and programs. These these programs range from a beginning program to teach you about posture and using the equipment to CrossFit for teens and personal training. Check them out for more information. It is said that CrossFit can become quite addicting and has many positive results.

Fitness Renegades-Fitness Renegades is a different type of workout environment. They offer two programs, circuit and strength. It is based on becoming fit as a group and getting motivation from the group. They also focus on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. This includes access to a wide variety of workout equipment, group exercise classes, and their pool (classes and swim lessons). Planet Fitness-Planet fitness is a gym that offers a lot of different equipment as well as circuits, but does not offer traditional group classes. They offer two types of memberships, either individual or a membership where you can bring somebody with you each time and that person does not need to have to have their own membership. They also offer tanning, massage chairs, and other amenities within the gym. You have the ability to use your membership, a certain number of times a month, throughout the nation so again this gym is another good gym if you find yourself traveling. They do not however provide childcare and each membership is individual.

Winter Fitness and Health Tips

Brrrr! This weekend we not only got a lot of snow but it got cold out, very cold!!!! It is also the time of year where people are trying to start or restart healthy habits. Here are some ways to work on your health and fitness, even when the air outside is cold!

1. Walk around the inside of the mall. You will be in good company as many people walk the mall in the mornings and throughout the day. Stay to the perimeter and make a few laps!

2. Prepare some freezer meals that can just be placed in the crock-pot on those mornings when you know you will be limited for time at dinner. Chili, lasagna, and soup all make fantastic crock-pot meals!

3. Drink extra water, it helps with circulation and keeps blood flowing. This will help you stay warmer!

4. Embrace the snow and cold and go sledding, skiing, or snowboarding! There are also great snowshoe trails and cross-country ski paths. Try one or try them all!

5. Shovel your walkways and your neighbor's. You will gain a friend and burn some extra calories, they will be very appreciative!

6. Park further away when going to a store. It is usually easier to get your car in and out, you can briskly walk to get your heart rate up, and you won't have to deal with as much traffic and as many pedestrians as you try to leave!

7. Build a snow fort with the kids or grand kids! Make the blocks, pack them together, have hours of fun!

8. Curl up with a warm glass of tea. You will be getting in some of your water for the day and keeping yourself warm! Try adding, honey, a little milk, a small amount of sugar, cinnanmon, or just drink it as is!
